Get Your Copywriting Career Started Fast — Without Any Contacts, Testimonials, Or Even A Portfolio
“Ben, I’ve studied dozens of copywriting books, have
hundreds of 3X5 index cards filled with headlines and
marketing ideas, I read The National Enquirer every week,
I’ve studied Schwartz, Collier, Caples, Halbert and Carlton
and can probably recite their stuff back to you verbatim. I
write out ads long hand every stinkin’ day of the week, over
and over and over again. But…I just can’t seem to get a
client. What do I do?
That was an email recently sent to me posing a very good question. How do you get that first client when everyone wants to see a “portfolio” of your stuff and a list of people who will vouch for you?
Well, besides trying some of the more “mainstream” ways — such
as using elance.com, sending offers around your
home town, networking, etc — there is a little-known way to
get started few people know about…or are willing to do.
And even though it takes a lot of guts and confidence in your
abilities — and will stretch you way out of your
“comfort zone” — it’ll improve your skills by leaps and
bounds…and spare you the inconvenience and hassle of
licking anyone’s boots to get those first few assignments.
Listen to this: The way I got started — and you can do
the same thing today — was by going to www.sendfree.com and signing up for their free auto-responder service. And when you sign up for their free autoresponder service (whether you use it or not) they’ll automatically enroll you in (or give you the option of enrolling in) what’s called “The Sendfree Roundtable”.
This, my friend, is one of the best kept secrets on the
Internet. Especially if you’re just starting out, looking
for that first gig to “jump start” your career.
Here’s why: This “round table” is nothing more than a big email forum, like you see on “Yahoo! Groups”, where you’re
encouraged to introduce yourself, tell everyone what you
do…and even submit an offer to the entire list.
True, you could do this at any online forum, especially if they have a section for joint ventures and special offers. The only problem is…the majority of people reading those sections are submitting offers, not necessarily looking for offers.
But with the Sendfree Roundtable everyone on the
list gets emailed your offer…and thus, sees it. And since
they only send out about 4 or 5 offers and introductions at a time, there’s a good chance most people will see your offer.
Obviously, for someone just starting out as a copywriter,
wanting to get their “feet wet”, it serves as an invaluable tool.
Now, here’s I used it to get started: When I introduced myself, I included an offer to write copy in exchange for 5% of the gross sales. No upfront fees, no binding contracts and no strings
attached. I was basically writing for “free” in a sense.
Did it work? Well, let’s put it this way: That very same day alone…I got over a dozen responses. And in the end, I managed to get 4 or 5 quality jobs out of the deal…gain a ton of “real world” experience…build a decent portfolio…and learn an awful lot about the business side of copywriting (i.e. dealing with clients).
And you know what? You can do the exact same thing. Plus, if you deal with the right people…and work hard enough…you could very well end up collecting a few checks along the way.

Carbon Monoxide Can Be Deadly–Early Detection Monitors Make It Easy to Protect Your Family
If you burn gas, kerosene, or wood in your home to produce
heat for cooking or warmth, you need to monitor the level of
carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide is odorless and can easily
build up to dangerous levels. Ordinary carbon monoxide
detectors don’t sound an alarm until certain levels of
carbon monoxide accumulate in the air. New monitors show the
amount of carbon dioxide in the air at any given time, so
you can take action well before levels reach the danger
zone.
HOW CARBON MONOXIDE GETS INTO THE AIR IN YOUR HOME
Carbon monoxide is the major toxic combustion by-product
that is created when gas, kerosene, or wood is burned to
produce heat for cooking or warmth. Other combustion
by-products include formaldehyde, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur
dioxide, hydrogen cyanide, nitric acid, and vapors from
various organic chemicals.
Carbon monoxide and other combustion by-products are
produced when fuels do not burn completely. All fuel-burning
appliances need air for the fuel to burn efficiently. When a
generous supply of fresh air is available and the fuel is
burning properly, there is little danger of poisoning. But
when there is inadequate ventilation or the appliance is not
operating properly, carbon monoxide is produced and can
gradually overcome and even kill an unsuspecting bystander.
Many years before I was born, my grandmother almost died
from carbon monoxide seeping from her gas furnace. It was
just by chance that someone walked in and saved her.
SYMPTOMS OF CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING
It is possible to identify symptoms of carbon monoxide
poisoning if you know what to look for. Your body will tell
you if there is too much carbon monoxide in your home.
Different concentrations of carbon monoxide and different
exposure times cause different symptoms.
Mild exposures to carbon monoxide are often confused with
the flu. Symptoms include sleepiness, slight headache,
dizziness, flushed skin, disorientation, abnormal reflexes,
blurred vision, irritablity, slight nausea, fatigue, and an
inability to concentrate.
As exposure continues, mild symptoms turn into severe
throbbing headache, drowsiness, confusion, shortness of
breath, vomiting, and an accelerated heart rate.
Unconsciousness and convulsions are signs that cardio
respiratory failure and death are near.
If you or anyone in your family experiences flu-like
symptoms and you burn gas, kerosene or wood in your home,
you should immediately evaluate if it is, in fact, early
signs of carbon monoxide exposure.
CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS AND ALARMS
There are two types of devices that can warn you about
carbon monoxide levels in your home.
Carbon monoxide detectors sound an alarm like a smoke
detector when carbon monoxide reaches dangerous levels.
These are relatively inexpensive, but, like a smoke
detector, only warn you when carbon monoxide in your home
has already reached a level that is approaching dangerous.
Carbon monoxide monitors give you an ongoing numerical
reading of the current level of carbon monoxide, and sound
an alarm when concentrations approach dangerous levels.
These cost around $50, but show you what the actual carbon
monoxide concentration is at any given time. With a monitor,
you can catch carbon monoxide leaks at low levels, and rest
assured that your family is safe.
TO ELIMINATE THE THREAT OF CARBON MONOXIDE…
Electric appliances do not emit combustion by-products under
normal use.
If you prefer to use gas, propane, or wood, make sure
appliances are well-adjusted for a clean burn and provide
enough ventilation for combustion by-products to escape.

How to Build Loyal Customers – First Steps You Have to Do When
You Email to New Subscribers to Earn
This short article on how to build loyal customers shows you
some of my favorite tips and techniques for dealing with new
subscribers to get them hooked so they stay in your list as long
as you follow the following this techniques. The main goal of
this article is to explain how to develop a communication
process with your new subscribers to build to build loyal
customers. One of the biggest aspects of online business is
trust, and how you are perceived. If you make a bad first
impression, or come off as someone just in it for the money,
people are smarter than that. They’ll see it coming a mile away,
especially with all of the scams and people getting ripped off
today. Email in opt tutorial is composed with two main parts if
you neglect one part things will go wrong. Please give all parts
the required attention. How to build loyal customers part one -
make sure you have a system ready to take action! Note: Don’t
buy or rent a mailing list unless you make sure that the
subscribers in the list know they will receive your marketing
messages. Before you buy, rent email list or start collecting
email addresses from your web site, you need to have a solid
system in place that will allow you to communicate with your
list and allow them to get to know you and trust you. Most of
subscribers you will receive are new online users and / or new
businesses starters. They are info seekers. They opt in because
they want information about your product or service now. They
won’t wait for tomorrow to receive it. Use autoresponder to
offer free valuable information via email! All you have to do is
create your own series of email training to educate your
prospects. Get quality autoresponder service. You obviously
can’t do this on an individual basis, because it would be nearly
impossible as your list gets bigger, but you can easily do this
through your automatic responder services. Use adtracker to
track your potential clients foot steps and adjust your
marketing efforts accordingly. Make sure you have your tracking
systems in place so you know what’s going on once the promotions
begin and the traffic hits. Don’t do any guesswork. You need
SCIENTIFIC numbers telling you what’s going on, what’s happened
and what you need to do to increase sales and profits. How to
build loyal customers Part two – How to structure your
autoresponder messages. Don’t ruin your business by sending out
50 or more follow up advertising messages. People are becoming
very careful about requesting anything for fear of being spammed
to death for doing it. Teach your subscribers. Set up seven
parts autoresponder email course. Each course contains helpful
information and quality gift related to the course theme. Email
courses are a very good way to build your reputation as a
provider of useful information. Setup an email course series a
bout a hot topic. Give quality information in the course. Don’t
advertise any product during the course phase. Don’t show your
subscribers you are here only for money. Instead, invite them to
visit your website to see your special marketing offer, your web
site update, your quality free information, etc… and the ways
are endless to put your offer in front of your potential
customer. In each course you may send a free quality brandable
ebook or software where you advertise your affiliate programs.
Allow your subscribers to brand the product with their name to
help them make money they will think you for doing so. Show
them you are a real person. – Put your contacts info including
your email address, your physical address, phone number, etc…
in all your outgoing messages to make it easy for your
subscribers to contact you and feel they are dealing with an
authentic marketer. – Show them your photo, your family photos
or your employees’ photo. – Send them to where they can read
about you. Let Your Subscribers Know You. After your email
course series is over hook your subscribers with your follow up
messages series. Set up a series of follow up messages. You can
set up a whole series of follow up messages that show your
potential customer that you are concerned with their
satisfaction and you are here to help them succeed. In your
first tree messages or so do not promote any product or service
you are selling at all. These three messages are designed to
open an unstoppable dialog between you and your potential
customers to build relationship and trust. Instead of sales
pitches, you’ll be sending out to your new subscribers a series
of emails that talk about anything you want but no product
promotion. You may talk about yourself, your likes & dislikes,
your favorite hobby, what you do for a living, any websites you
have, etc. You can even talk about your family and friends if
you want. After they receive your emails that talk about what
you have chosen to talk about. Invite your subscribers to
contact you in a friendly manner. Let them know you are there to
help them. Ask them to send you emails talking about anything
and everything they want to talk about. Your subscribers won’t
contact you on their own if you don’t invite them. In this
introductory phase of the process, keep sending to your
subscribers quality information and gifts that they can’t find
elsewhere. When people see you as a provider of good information
that they can use and profit from, then your reputation and the
reputation of your company becomes more credible. When this
happens people will be more likely to buy your products and
services or indeed the products or services you recommend them.
As soon as the communication starts up between you and your
subscribers, start collecting information about your
subscribers. Information like what business they are involved
in? What are their concerns and fears? Their gender, age, where
they live? What’s their problem? Once you have built trust and
collect information…. At this time start sending promotional
messages that promote quality products. Do not promote any
product before you try it. If you try to promote a product you
have never used, it will show. The visitor will see and feel the
lack of sincerity and your reputation will suffer accordingly.
If you follow this technique you will build a quality email list
of ready to buy subscribers. Permission email marketing is an
art. Permission email marketing is not a hard science. Without
question, email marketing is the most affordable and effective
tool in your marketing arsenal. You can use email marketing to
maximize all of your other sales and marketing activities and
improve the return on investment (ROI) of every dollar you spend
to obtain new business if you know how to build loyal customers.

Thousands of Weapons to be Destroyed by Cambodian Government
Next Week in Siem Reap and Sihanoukvill
It is undeniable that Cambodia is changing. When I arrived in Cambodia in 1995, one in three Cambodians I met carried a weapon. Arms were for many the only way to ensure security. Yet, in the decennium I live in Cambodia, I have never seen one used against me or anybody, except for one: a policeman shot some game in the forest but didn’t catch it.
I’ve collected weapons. 5 years ago, I travelled to Dey Krohom village in Kratie province along roads which the year after were de-mined because the road was part of what once was the National road from Phnom Penh to Kratie and Stoeung Treng and is was going to be rebuilt into what Cambodians cal a “speedway”. I’ve seen the mines when a year later, I travelled the same road again to inspect my development projects.
Each one might have killed me. Do you know that mines tend to float under the soil and move where no-one expects any mines.
>From 2000 to 2004, I worked for the EU ASAC, an EU weapons management programme for establishing weapons security to the country. My job was to help collect weapons from the civilian population which was only a small part of a much more encompassing programme. My job also included implementing police support regarding to security as a complement to the weapons collection.
The programme was implemented on the request and with the full support of the Cambodian government. Next week, the government will destroy some 8,000 weapons and thus bring the total of destroyed weapons since the start of the EU peace plan to more than 175,000 weapons.
These weapons include not only weapons from the civilian population, but also military surpluses. Some argue that it is the oldest weapons that were destroyed, but all of the weapons in the destruction were usable. Being usable – if only for spare parts -, they could be sold on the black market and used in other conflicts in the region.
By destroying those weapons, the Cambodian people acts as true Buddhists, choosing for Peace in the Region. “Put down your weapon, take up the Dharma” edified the Buddhist Teachers. And that is what Cambodians are doing.
The EU has been the initiator of the multi-facetted peace programme. Two Japanese organisations are fulfilling the promises of European initiators: if you make peace development will come. Cambodian people have turned their weapons. JSAC and JCCP, two Japanese organisation now offer development projects to the villages, communes and districts that have surrendered all their weapons and are proven weapons-free. Clean water wells are in some places the highest priorities, elsewhere schools or school toilets were built.
The principle of the weapons collection project was not to pay for the weapons, but to offer community-owned projects instead. Every weapon that was collected from the civilian population had to be destroyed and was.
The military surplus weapons are those that are left over from the EU ASAC Weapons Registration and Safe Storage project. Here safe storage buildings for weapons and computerised registration system have been provided to the Cambodian Army and Gendarmerie.
The weapons are destroyed in public ceremonies in the presence of the population. These ceremonies are called “Flames of Peace.” EU, Cambodian or Japanese experts count the weapons as part of the process and check that no more ammunition remains in the weapon that could turn the celebration into a tragedy.
The EU assistance programme has also supported the National Committee for weapons management, the draft of a new arms law and oversees the implementation of that law.
Next week, two of those bonfires take place in Cambodia. On Monday 26 September, 3,430 weapons will be burned ceremoniously in Siem Reap province with Japanese support and on Tuesday about 4,500 in Sihanoukville with European support.
The Japanese destruction ceremony will take place in Angkor Chum district, there where the people have turned them in. The ceremony in Sihanoukville will take place on Ochheuteal Beach and is open to any visitor. If you happen to be in Sihanoukville, this is a unique occasion to witness the Cambodian contribution to peace building.

Garden Projects for Kids
Butterfly Feeders
This is a fun project that’s easy enough for the kids to do, and it can be as elegant or as simple as you like. All you need is a small jar, such as a baby food or small jelly jar with a lid, and some cotton.
1. Make a small hole in the lid of the jar.
2. Fill the jar with butterfly food.
3. Screw the lid tightly onto the jar and poke a small piece of cotton into the hole.
4. Invert the jar and hang it in the garden.
That’s all there is to it! Of course, you’ll probably want to decorate your jar with paint or decoupage. Butterflies locate their food sources by sight, so the more your feeder looks like a plant or flower, the better your chances of attracting butterflies. It may also help to cut out some fabric or plastic ‘petals’ and fasten them to the lid of your feeder.
To make butterfly food, simply dissolve one part sugar in nine parts of water. No coloring or other additive is needed.
Gardener’s Tool Box
Another fun project is to make a gardener’s toolbox from a standard mailbox. Decorate the mailbox any way you like, and fasten it to a fencepost near the garden. A mailbox is the perfect size for a spare pair of gloves and a few hand tool. This is a great rainy day project for the kids, and it makes a terrific personalized gift.

Kitchen Table Sets – Add a Touch of Style to Your Dream Kitchen
Furnishing your kitchen with a decorative kitchen table set is one of the best ways to give your kitchen a face lift. It can make your eating area appear exclusive and allow you to enjoy your unique style in your dream kitchen. Being offered with classic chairs and table, they make a fashion statement for your home. The size of the kitchen table sets vary widely. You only have to ensure the one you selected will fit your available space and match your taste. However, the simplest one endowed with the contemporary styling is much in demand these days. Apart from looking attractive, the kitchen table sets serve as the perfect furniture to relax and enjoy a meal with friends or family.
Like kitchen table sets, there are several other types of furniture that can add a lot of elegance to your kitchen and impress your guests for years to come. One such furniture is the kitchen island cart. However, there can be abundant storage space in your kitchen but little workspace. A kitchen island is the perfect remedy for this.
A kitchen island is a special type of counter used basically for food preparation and auxiliary cooking requirements. Moreover, a kitchen island lends modern stylish looks to the kitchen design. In case you would like to have a simple kitchen island, you can consider purchasing the one that matches with the table. It has the legs and a flat counter space for cooking. It serves the dual purpose of preparing meals and serving food in buffet style. Another design you can consider buying is a simple one including an ordinary flat counter area together with drawers and cabinets underneath. They provide enough storage space under the kitchen island to place utensils and other grocery items.
Most people prefer to purchase a custom built kitchen island as it is especially designed to suit the individual customer’s specifications. It can include anything from a sink and cook top to a small refrigerator. It generally has a solid top counter to perform the tasks like rolling dough and preparing meals, thereby eliminating the need of using a cutting board. The flexibility and design options of a kitchen cart is a special feature that is very attractive to many people.
In short, finding the perfect furniture for your kitchen can be a big challenge. It should be done carefully. One of the factors to be taken onto consideration before buying a kitchen island is its size and that may vary widely. Ensure to purchase the one that fits your space best.

Why You Should Buy Fair Trade Coffee
Here in the West we are massive consumers of coffee. And many of us think nothing of spending four or five dollars at Starbucks for a gourmet espresso, latte or cappuccino.
What few of us think about as we sip our favorite brew is that coffee is grown by small farmers in developing countries. Most of these farmers are paid less for the coffee beans they grow that it costs for them to produce and pick them.
In other words, for every gourmet coffee you and I enjoy, the grower of the beans used is descending into a deeper and deeper cycle of poverty and desperation.
It was in recognition of this cycle that the certification process for fair trade coffee was introduced in 1998.
When you buy a pound of fair trade coffee, $1.26 goes directly back to the coffee growers who grew it.
It doesn’t go directly into the hands of an individual grower, but to the cooperative to which he or she belongs. Part of the deal with fair trade coffee is that farmers are required to band together in cooperatives. The money then goes to the cooperative and is shared among all the farmers.
The issue of farmers having to join a cooperative to benefit from fair trade is a complex one, with advantages and disadvantages.
However, the big benefit is that when $1.26 goes to the cooperative, and then to the farmer…they are receiving about the double what they would get outside of the fair trade coffee system.
In other words, when you or I buy fair trade coffee, we are providing the grower with twice the income he or she would normally receive.
Over 100 million pounds of fair trade coffee have now been sold in the U.S. alone. Better still, the numbers are growing fast.
Starbucks now offers fair trade coffees and recently Wal-Mart announced that it would start offering fair trade coffee through its Sam’s Club outlets.
When Wal-Mart becomes a buyer, you can be sure that the impact on small coffee farmers in Central and South America, East Africa and the Far East will be substantial.
Yes, it will cost you a little more to buy fair trade coffee. But when you pay that little extra, you’ll be making a real difference to the lives of coffee farmers and their families and communities.
Nicholas H. Usborne is one of the sleuths at CoffeeDetective.com He and his colleagues take a commonsense approach to making great coffee, and give you the straight facts on coffee and coffee makers – without the marketing hype. They also write the Fair Trade Coffee News Blog
Looking for a Japanese Kanji Tattoo?
It is a good idea to keep in mind before you decide upon a tattoo that kanji as an art is based on a different form of language unlike english in its construction. Be should be sure to spend time researching the authenticity of each symbols’ meaning. It could be rather embarrassing to learn later on after you have been tattooed that the Kanji tattoo you thought meant one thing turned out to be something completely different.
It has to be said that Japanese kanji tattoos seem to be much more popular in the West than they are outside of Japan. I would be like an American going into a tattoo studio and asking to have “Wealth” or “Power” tattooed onto their chect or arm!
If you don’t speak Japanese it is very hard to find characters that say what you want and are not something that will turn heads with native japanese speakers for all the wrong reasons. Trusting a non native speaking tattoo artist is recommended either as the tattoo artist may be as much in the dark as you are. It is highly recommended that you do your reasearch before rushing off to get a kanji tattoo character done.

Kid Time And Couple Time
Summary: Are you having trouble finding time to be with your children and to be with each other? Discover how important this balance is, and what may be the underlying issue in the way of couple time.
A reader emailed me the following question:
“Many dads and moms, especially those that work full-time, are torn by guilt when it comes to time allocation. They have been away from the kids so long during the working week that the weekends MUST be spent with them. Result: There is simply NO couple-time. Any suggestions?”
One thing that is often not realized by parents is that a happy and harmonious marriage is one of the greatest gifts they can give to their children. Most children will gladly spend less time with their parents when they know that some of the time being spent away from them is about creating and maintaining a loving relationship between their parents.
Parents who work full time do need to be sure to spend some quality time with their children each evening. I was in this position when I was raising my three children. My husband and I would each spend an hour each evening, sometimes with one child and sometimes with two. On the weekends, we set aside some time alone with each other and alone with ourselves, which our children learned to respect. Then we spent the rest of the time in family time. Parents need to understand that they are the role models for their children, and if they are not taking responsibility for their own needs, their children will not learn to take responsibility for their own needs. What we role model regarding personal responsibility for our own happiness and wellbeing is as important as spending time with our children. Both are equally important in raising healthy children.
When parents do not find the time to be with each other or to be alone with themselves, they may need to examine what else might be going on within themselves and in the relationship. Are they using their work and their children to avoid themselves and each other? If their time alone or together is not fulfilling, then work time and kid time can be ways of filling an inner emptiness. Or, the time problems might be a result of unexamined priorities.
We all tend to do what is truly important to us. If work is important to us, then we may work a lot. If parenting is important to us, then we might spend lots of time with our children. If our creative pursuits, hobbies, or sports are important to us, then we will find time for them. The same is true for our relationship. If it is very important to us, we will find the time for it. So, if parents are not finding the time to be together, they might want to examine their priorities and explore why time together might not be important.
Often time together is important to one partner and not to the other. When this is the case, partners need to explore what is happening between them that is leading to the one partner not making time together a high priority. Some of the issues you may want to examine are:
* Is one partner fearful of being pulled on for sex?
* Is one partner fearful of being pulled on to fill up the other partner emotionally?
* Does one partner feel fearful of being criticized in various ways when they are alone together?
* Is one partner emotionally unavailable and the other partner feels lonely with him or her when they are alone together?
* Has one partner become so preoccupied with being successful or making money that they no longer have anything to talk about?
* If fun lacking in the relationship?
* Does one partner feel resistant to being controlled by the other partner?
* Is one partner resenting the imbalance regarding work, chores and childcare?
* Is one partner feeling angry or withdrawn? If so, why?
If the real reason for not spending time together is truly about not enough time, then you need to consider how you can get help, such as hiring a neighborhood teenager, to do some chores or spend some time with young children.
If spending time together is a high priority, you can find a way!

Buying A Used Car? – Save Yourself The Aggravation & Do It Right!
Buying a used car can be stressful. With so many options available, how do you know which car offers the best deal for your money?
Buying a used car is a bit more complicated than buying a new model. For one, not all used cars have been equally maintained by their previous owners. In reality, two cars that look exactly alike can have drastically different prices based on how well they’ve been maintained. Hence, it is important for you to consider different factors that might affect the performance and condition of the used car you’re interested in.
Here are some tips that will help you decide which used car is best for your budget:
Safety Features
Safety features should not be overlooked when choosing a used car. Anti-lock brakes and airbags should be in working order. Just because a car is used, doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice on all the options you would have if you were buying new.
Mileage
The car’s mileage will give you an indication of how much the car was driven. The average driver will typically put 12,000 to 15,000 miles per year on a car. If the mileage of the car far exceeds these averages with respect to its age, then it might be time to start looking at other used cars.
Condition
Before even test driving a car, you should take the time to thoroughly inspect the interior and exterior condition of the car. Just because a car is used doesn’t mean you have to settle for excessive wear and tear. There are plenty of used cars available that don’t have excessive rust, dents, rips, odors, etc.
The interior and exterior of a car can also give you an indication of how well the mechanics of a car have been maintained. If the previous owner didn’t care to properly maintain the interior and exterior, it’s probably unlikely they kept up with regular mechanical maintenance as well.
Test Drive
The most important aspect of buying a used car is the test drive. You should pay careful attention to how well the car handles the road, and any unusual sounds you may hear. If you don’t feel comfortable during the test drive, then it may be time to move on with your car search.
Car History
If at all possible, try to get as much information on the service history of the car. This will probably give you the most solid information regarding the true condition of the car. You can get a clear idea of any mechanical problems the car may have had, any accidents it may have been in, and how well the previous owners kept up with regular maintenance.
Taking the time to thoroughly inspect and research a used car will save you a lot of time, aggravation, and money later down the road.
