Laser Etching – Make a Lasting Mark
Laser etching is the process of using a laser beam to permanently mark an object. An image or pattern can be marked into such items like glass or metal. Laser etching can be a complex process and the dimensions and specifics of the pattern or image are usually programmed into a computer that directs the laser. Depending on the surface one is marking the laser strength is set accordingly.
There are two types of lasers one can use in laser etching which are handheld and machine-operated. The handheld laser is handy when working on a project that demands precise markings where as machine-operated lasers is used for projects of mass production.
Laser etching can provide the sophistication and precision needed to make a lasting mark on almost any object. With continuing technological advancements laser etching can mark the most intricate of designs or patterns to objects like I-pods, laptops, or cell phone. Laser etching when used for mass production tends to be for circuit boards or other items that need uniform markings.
This type of marking promises long lasting results that can be hard to duplicate. Though it is a complex idea, the actual practice of laser etching can be done by a novice or expert alike.
